Description
Design Bertil Vallien for Kosta Boda
For an exhibition several years ago, Bertil Vallien created glass sculptures in the shape of blue heads. He found his inspiration in the story of a young woman, Karolina Olsson, who slipped and hit her head one winter’s day in 1876 as she walked home across the ice between the mainland and Öland. The next morning she woke up, she went back to sleep and never woke up again until 1908. Then her mother was gone, two brothers had drowned, Sweden had separated from Norway. Karolina only remembered a great darkness. And blue men.
