Derived from an archetypal vase shape, the flowing form of the Trails vases is subtly interrupted by a network of horizontal and vertical paths. These paths show a rhythmic distribution of imprinted dots or actually through drilled holes – depending on the version. Four vertical paths run from bottom to top, traversing two horizontal paths around the vase.
The vases in this series show the fragility of ceramics. For it is as if you could break these vases into precise sections along the perforated paths, like neatly applied breaking lines.
