Bird Kuulas rain design Oiva Toikka
Oiva Toikka is one of the greatest names in Finnish design. His iconic collection of Iittala glass birds first took flight in 1972 at the Nuutajärvi glass factory. Created in close collaboration with the glassblowers, the collection combined Toikka’s passion for nature and blown glass art. Each mouthblown bird is unique down to the minute detail. Handcrafted and mouthblown at the Iittala Glass Factory, the collection embodies a rich fusion of glassmaking traditions. Birds by Toikka Kuulas uses simple, iridescent coloured glass to reveal the bird’s plump body. The flat tail and teardrop-shaped head are crafted from contrasting dark glass.
