This large Proud Mary is hand-painted by the craftsmen of Royal Delft. The polychrome decoration distinguishes this Proud Mary from the blue Delft variants. Even more so thanks to the gold-plated head.
It is named after Maria II, the wife of city regent Willem III. She was a great enthusiast and collector of Delft Blue porcelain in the golden age. Figurine Proud Mary is made up of four separate elements: the skirt, the bodice, the collar and the head.
